TelFest, KFU’s large-scale language festival, held at the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication

This year’s 4th iteration of the festival was preceded by a grand final of an intellectual foreign language competition for high schoolers of Tatarstan and neighboring provinces. The first three places were all won by local kids.

The next day, TelFest was opened with a lively musical show. Students, teachers, and invited experts offered various activities in many languages – Chinese, English, French, Spanish, German, and Arabic. Connoisseurs of team games could try their best in quizzes and tongue twisters, others learned the intricacies of the Chinese tea ceremony, yet others could hone their cooking skills – all the while improving their mastery of languages.

Special interest was drawn to events in Chinese language. Online tutor and school founder Yelena Makk shared her lifehacks in Chinese phonetics. Local businesswoman, manager of a Chinese language school Kamilla Garapshina presented her own methodology Three Ages – Three Methods: Tried and True Tools of Teaching Chinese Today.
