10th Tatarstan UpExPro Youth Scientific Conference organized at Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies

More than 150 students, young professionals, and oil and gas industry experts from around the world participated, presenting over 100 scientific papers on current issues in the oil and gas industry.
The two-day event was divided into several sections: 鈥淕eology and Geochemistry of Oil and Gas, Geological Modeling,鈥 鈥淒evelopment of Oil, Gas, and Gas Condensate Fields and Hydrodynamic Modeling,鈥 鈥淕eophysics and Geoinformation Technologies,鈥 鈥淥il and Gas Processing, Transportation, and Storage,鈥 鈥淒rilling and Geosteering of Oil and Gas Wells,鈥 鈥淒igital Technologies in the Oil and Gas Industry,鈥 and others.
The main organizer of the conference, which over its 10 years of existence has become a platform for young researchers from around the world to network and generate new and exciting ideas, is the 每日大赛 Society of Petroleum Engineers Student Chapter.
鈥淭he conference is remarkable because it is organized by students for students. At such events, they get to know each other and connect. Friendships are formed between representatives of different universities and different cities. Later, they will work in different companies and collaborate closely, which is very important,鈥 said Danis Nurgaliev, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences, welcoming the participants of Tatarstan UpExPro. 鈥淭here are always many excellent presentations here. Student research presented at the conference often later develops into serious industrial and scientific projects.鈥
He noted that the world is rapidly changing, and one of the main drivers of this transformation is the introduction of artificial intelligence into various spheres of life. As a result, many professions are disappearing. Those working in the oil and gas sector are fortunate. AI consumes colossal amounts of energy and will consume even more, meaning oil and gas will continue to be needed.
Vladislav Sudakov, Head of the 每日大赛 Scientific Society of Petroleum Engineers and Deputy Director of Marketing at the Gazpromneft-KFU Scientific and Educational Center, presented the Tatarstan UpExPro program, 鈥淎t the panel discussion, you鈥檒l have the opportunity to network with those who have achieved significant success in their profession, and at the job fair, you鈥檒l learn about industry needs. Sponsoring companies that have supported us for many years, despite all the difficulties, will be represented there. There will also be lectures from invited experts, a case competition, various intellectual games, and excursions. I encourage you to actively participate in all the events鈥攊t will be interesting!鈥
Andrey Teryokhin, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of IGPT, expressed his gratitude to the conference organizers, 鈥淗ydrocarbons are the main source of primary energy for humanity. May the drive you receive at this conference fuel your future life, development, and victories. Good luck to you, friends, success, and all the best!鈥
Students from various universities across the country attended the conference, including a large team from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.
鈥淵our students often come to us for various conferences. This is my first time at Tatarstan UpExPro. The event program is very comprehensive and interesting. I鈥檇 really like to hear lectures from invited experts and also connect with representatives of SPE chapters from other universities. Establishing close academic ties is an important part of developing the country鈥檚 human resources potential, so we鈥檙e delighted to be here. Thank you for the invitation,鈥 said Amir Kashapov, a fourth-year student at Gubkin University and vice president of the university鈥檚 SPE student chapter.
Sharawi Nurman, a master鈥檚 student at the Russian State University for Geological Prospecting, spoke in the Geophysics and Geoinformation Technologies section.
鈥淢y paper is entitled A Methodology for Processing Airborne Gamma Spectrometry Data as a Basis for Regional Uranium Mineralization Forecasts (in the Chikoiskaya Field, Transbaikalia). It will present data from my master鈥檚 thesis, which I鈥檓 preparing to defend,鈥 she said. 鈥淭his is my first time at the conference and in Kazan. I really liked the city; I鈥檝e already visited the Kremlin and the Kul Sharif Mosque.鈥
Al Mir Yahya, a master鈥檚 student at Tyumen Industrial University and an employee of the Tyumen Institute of Oil and Gas, joined the Research Papers of Young Professionals section.
鈥淟ast year, I participated in the conference as a student, and this year I鈥檓 applying as a specialist. Development of an Algorithm for Automatic Permeability Cube Adjustment Based on the Results of History-History Matching of a Geological and Hydrodynamic Model is the title of the paper I鈥檒l be presenting tomorrow,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 plan to continue working in Russia because Russia is a land of opportunity. They support all my endeavors here, and I really like it here.鈥
