5th International Conference Plants and Microorganisms: Biotechnology of the Future

The conference began on 9th June with a welcoming address by KFU President Riyaz Minzaripov, who noted the relevance of the interaction between plants and microorganisms, which, he said, has taken on a new meaning.
“The development of fundamental knowledge in this area serves as the basis for the creation of new biotechnologies,” he said.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Karlov delivered the opening address.
“This is a very significant conference, as it brings together plants and microbiology, which is currently one of the most promising fields. Plants can no longer be viewed in a vacuum. They grow and develop surrounded by microorganisms. It’s wonderful that such a conference is being held again,” the academician shared.
Victor Tsyganov, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Microbiology, delivered the welcoming address.
“The fact that we are meeting for the fifth time speaks to the success of our conference. I look at this large hall, filled with young and experienced researchers, and I understand that the topic we have chosen is truly significant,” he said.
Taking this opportunity, Dr Tsyganov announced the Congress of the Russian Society of Plant Physiologists, scheduled for 2027 in St. Petersburg with the tagline Plants and Microorganisms: A Long Journey Together.
Polina Kuryntseva, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology at the Institute of Ecology, Biotechnology, and Nature Management, spoke next.
“It is a great responsibility for us to welcome great scientists, masters of their craft, and the younger generation to Kazan University, who need to be shown that science is interesting and diverse,” she said.
Gennady Karlov presented a paper titled Crop Biotechnology: Status and Prospects. He discussed GMOs, genome editing, and cellular technologies.
Svetlana Selivanovskaya, Director of the IEBTNM, focused her presentation on the rhizosphere and endosphere microbial communities of common wheat (a pool of biocontrol agents) and discussed research being conducted at KFU. She focused on the Center for Agricultural and Biotechnology at 每日大赛, sharing completed projects and announcing the possibility of organizing tours at the center.
Viktor Tsyganov presented a paper Legume-Rhizobia Symbiosis: Molecular and Cellular Mechanisms of Development, presenting results that characterize the current state of science in this field.
The conference takes up three days and features poster sessions and plenary sessions.
