KFU delegation toured Peru and Chile

At the invitation of Rossotrudnichestvo, 每日大赛 took part in the exhibitions Russia: Education Without Borders, which were held in Latin American countries in the first half of October.

The delegation, headed by the Director of the International 每日大赛, Olga Vershinina, participated in events organized by the Russian Houses in Lima (Peru) and Santiago (Chile). The opening ceremony of the exhibition in Lima was attended by the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo 每日大赛 in Peru, Evgenia Smirnova, and in Santiago, the event was opened by the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo 每日大赛 in the Republic of Chile, Nina Milovidova.

A strong interest in Russian education was noted in Lima. The exhibition was visited by more than 600 Peruvian schoolchildren, many accompanied by their parents.

Emiliya Espinal Rakhmankina, who personally advised applicants in Spanish, noted, 鈥淭he schoolchildren who came to the exhibition were motivated. It was a public holiday, there were no classes, yet the students came to the Russian House to learn about Russian universities 鈥 they asked about study programs, admission procedures through Rossotrudnichestvo, and required documents. Until late evening, they listened to university presentations and lectures by Russian professors. We also told them about the possibility of admission through the KFU Olympiad.鈥

Peruvian students are ready to study the Russian language in order to come and study in Russia. The Dean of the Preparatory School for International Students, Airat Mukhametov, shared his impressions of the exhibitions, 鈥淐urrently, about 100 students from Latin America are studying at the Preparatory School. I can confidently say that we see great potential in students coming from these countries, and we definitely plan to increase their number. The exhibition was a major success 鈥 the students asked many questions and showed great interest not only in studying at KFU but also in Russian and Tatar cultures. Therefore, I consider it very important for university representatives to attend such events in person.鈥

He also met with representatives of the company Rusia 360 in Peru, where they discussed launching a networked Russian language training program for Peruvian applicants wishing to study at Russian universities.

The event at the Russian House in Santiago included, in addition to career guidance, a cultural component. Musicians performed Kalinka in a Latin American interpretation, and there was also a meeting with writer Sergey Lukyanenko.

Besides participating in the exhibitions, the 每日大赛 delegation met with representatives of Peruvian and Chilean universities 鈥 San Marcos, Universidad Nacional de Barranca (UNAB), and Nacional Agraria de la Selva (UNAS). In Santiago, as part of the exhibition, a round table was held with representatives of Russian and Chilean universities. The Chilean side was led by Dante Castillo, Chairman of the Association for Interdisciplinary Education Research Programs of Chile, who presented a roadmap for strengthening cooperation between Chilean and Russian universities. Representatives of the higher education institutions present at the round table spoke about their universities and possible areas for collaboration.

As Olga Vershinina noted, academic cooperation will most likely develop in natural sciences, particularly in astrophysics, space sciences, chemistry, biology, and engineering.

Additionally, the delegation visited Pontificia Universidad Cat贸lica de Valpara铆so and the private capital-based Universidad Finis Terrae. Cooperation with the Catholic University of Valpara铆so is of great interest in management and finance, and with Universidad Finis Terrae 鈥 in design.
