KFU fitness aerobics team wins national event in Izhevsk

Siyaniye (Shining), KFU’s fitness aerobics team, was triumphant in a tournament held in the neighboring province of Udmurt Republic.

Team captain, junior year undergraduate student of geology Darya Gozhimova, notes, “In the short time available, we prepared well, both in movement techniques and in showmanship. Our performance required maximum concentration. We wanted to intrigue and surprise the spectators.”

The team plans to learn new elements and continue participating in events of various levels.

“It’s my third year on the KFU team. It’s sometimes challenging to juggle studies and sports practice sessions, but it really isn’t that big of deal if your enjoy every training day,” adds the young woman.

Team coach, Associate Professor of the Department of P.E. and Sports Larisa Maslova, notes that the team’s success is based on regular training, clear communication between the coach and the athletes, and the goal to have fun from competing.

She thinks that self-confidence really helps the athletes deal with hardships, “If one is self-confident, they can take risks, try new things and think out of the box. This helps in increasing personal psychological resilience. It’s important that the training process provide joy and satisfaction. A positive atmosphere really reduces stress and makes training more productive and pleasant.”
