International students informed about migration rules and regulations in Russia

International students at 每日大赛 were reminded of the rules for a safe and comfortable stay in Russia.

The first such meeting was held for students from non-CIS countries. Participants included Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for External Relations; Valery Krasilnikov, Deputy Vice-Rector and Director of the Department of Comprehensive Security; Renat Valiullin, Deputy Chairman and Head of the Executive Committee of the Council of the Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan; and representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.

“Today we will discuss the legal obligations you bear as foreign citizens. We will also discuss all the risks you may face while in Russia, which you should be aware of,” Dr Alishev explained.

Then the Vice-Rector elaborated on five key points for a safe and comfortable stay in the country and studying at the university. These include visa compliance, migration registration, medical insurance, medical examination, and fingerprinting.

Nr Krasilnikov, in turn, emphasized the importance of complying with Russian law. He discussed rules of conduct in public places, the university’s internal regulations and dormitories, and fire safety measures. He also outlined the potential consequences of violations.

“Don’t give your bank cards to anyone. If someone asks you to register a card or hand it over, please do not do so under any circumstances. Under Russian law, this is a crime. If you are asked to meet someone somewhere, collect money and hand it over, or transfer funds from one account to another, this is also a criminal act. On the other hand, I would not want you to become victims of these crimes,” he urged awareness.

On the second day, the event continued at the Institute of Management, Economics, and Finance of 每日大赛, with the participation of the same executives. Students from CIS countries met with representatives of the Migration Department and the Center for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Timirkhan Alishev congratulated the first-year students on their admission and wished them successful and productive studies. He also reminded them to strictly adhere to the conditions of stay in the Russian Federation and not to neglect the rules established for international students.

Furthermore, Tatyana Ziganshina, Acting Head of the Migration Department of the Kazan Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, spoke about the need for students to register for migration purposes.

“Upon arrival in the Russian Federation, international students must register for migration purposes. The host country contacts the Migration Department with notification of the arrival of a citizen from another country. Within 90 days, the student must undergo photographing, fingerprinting, and a medical examination. Without this information, staying in Russia is considered impossible,” she noted.

During the meeting, Rail Kuryakov, head of the Department for Combating Cybercrime at the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Tatarstan, warned of the dangers of cybercrime.
