KFU scientist joins meeting of the Presidium of the Presidential Council for Science and Education

The meeting, chaired by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, touched upon the implementation of the Comprehensive Action Plan to Improve the Quality of Mathematics and Science Education through 2030.
“There has been a growing interest among schoolchildren in mathematics and science education, and the number of students studying mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, and biology in depth and choosing to take the Unified State Exam in these subjects has increased,” said Dmitry Medvedev.
He noted that this trend needs to be further developed. Important steps include improving curricula and addressing staffing issues in schools.
Mikhail Varfolomeev, member of the Presidential Council for Science and Education, Director of the 每日大赛’s Small Tonnage Chemical Technology Park, and Chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering, participated in the discussion. He reported that the meeting also focused on the issue of textbook evaluation.
“The evaluation is being conducted jointly by the Russian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Russian Academy of Sciences. Much work has been done to standardize textbooks and improve their quality,” the interviewee shared. “Other important issues were also discussed at the council. These concerned the education development strategy and the activities of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in Science and Education of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
