Rector Lenar Safin and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin open the Model Courtroom at the Faculty of Law
During the official visit on February 13, the head of the municipality met with the Rector.
The new classroom, designated as Room 330, was renovated and equipped with the support of Zufar Garaev, Chairman of the Board of Ak Bars Bank and member of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Law.
As noted by the Dean of the faculty, Liliya Bakulina, the model courtroom is fully prepared to host the upcoming All-Russian Judicial Debates. This event offers a unique opportunity for students to apply their skills in an environment that closely simulates real judicial practice.
“From April 24 to 26, 2026, members of the judiciary, representatives of the prosecutor’s office and the bar association, as well as scholars from various universities, will serve on the expert commission. They will preside in this new classroom and observe teams debating civil and criminal proceedings,” she reported.
In turn, Lenar Safin expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Ak Bars Bank for their significant contribution to the development of the university’s material and technical resources.
“I am very pleased that through our collective efforts, we are creating adequate conditions for our students’ education, their development, and the fulfillment of their potential, as well as for the effective work of our faculty members,” the Rector emphasized.
The Mayor responded by stating that helping one’s alma mater to raise new lawyers and qualified specialists is a sacred duty for all alumni of this legendary university.
Subsequently, Ilsur Metshin chaired a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Law. During the session, they reviewed the results of 2025, outlined promising development areas for the current year, and discussed matters concerning the preparations for the 5th Kazan International Legal Forum (KILF-2026).
Furthermore, a student graduation project for the reorganization of the KFU’s Botanical Garden was presented to the Mayor of Kazan. The project was developed by Elina Golovenko, a student at the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts, under the scientific supervision of Stepan Novikov, Chair of the Department of Architecture and Media Arts.
The concept involves a renovation of the entire greenhouse space with the construction of a unified greenhouse complex. This complex will include a student lecture hall, an observation deck, a facility for growing plants for educational purposes, and a central section featuring existing relic plants.
