Model UN held at Kazan University



The event takes place on 30 March 鈥 2 April.
More than 100 students from all over the country take part in the event every year. In a role-playing game, participants become delegates to UN committees, represent the interests of the chosen country, and through discussions come to the adoption of a common resolution. During the meetings, the work of 6 committees is modeled in Russian and English language.
鈥淥ur university has been running the Model UN since 2017. About 700 people have become its participants over the years. UNESCO Models were also held in 2018 and 2019. These are unique platforms that are organized for discussions and debates in order to identify a wide range of interests and positions,鈥 emphasizes Viktor Tumanin, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations.
鈥淭he Kazan model of the UN is an effective format for students who are actively involved in discussing the problems of world politics, to demonstrate their leadership, oratorical and diplomatic skills, the ability to reach a compromise and defend national interests,鈥 adds German Lerner, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan.
In his turn, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev indicates that the university pays much attention to the quality of teaching, 鈥淥f course, when you graduate from the university, you will find yourself in interesting and difficult professional situations, from which you will need to get out with honor and dignity, defending the interests of your company and country. And without the mistakes that you can make here, you will not become professionals who are in demand by society.鈥
