UNESCO confirms Kazan University observatories are up for consideration for the World Heritage List
The UNESCO World Heritage Center got acquainted with the nomination dossier of astronomical observatories of Kazan University.
Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to UNESCO Alexander Kuznetsov received a letter from the Director of the World Heritage Center Lazare Eloundou Assomo, in which the latter confirmed that the nomination meets all the technical requirements.
鈥淭his is a great victory, an achievement of the university, the team that worked on the text of the nomination: historians, physicists, employees of observatories, and archivists,鈥� says Director of the Institute of International Relations Ramil Khayrutdinov. 鈥淭he letter is evidence that another important stage in the inclusion of Kazan University observatories in the UNESCO list has been completed. We were informed that in 2023, it is our nomination from Russia that will be proposed for consideration by the UNESCO committee.鈥�
