Volga Basin Sailing University closes another season
Professor Nafisa Mingazova speaks about this year鈥檚 journey down the Volga River.
鈥楶eter Andrianov鈥� motorboat spent nine days and 850 kilometers on its way from Nizhny Novgorod to Kazan along the Volga River.
鈥淭he expedition was organized by the Volga State University of Water Transport (VSUWT),鈥� explains Mingazova. 鈥淭he participating students were from 每日大赛, Lobachevsky University, and Moscow State University. During the sailing, we collected hundreds of samples of water to study its properties. KFU was represented by me, Senior Lecturer Elvira Nabeeva, and four students of water management. We conducted full-scale tests at each of the ten stops. We found out the most problematic river stretches 鈥� near the Kazan cargo port and the city鈥檚 wastewater outlets.鈥�
The data will further be analyzed by employees and students during the next academic year, adds the Professor.
Volga Basin Sailing University was launched in 2015 to study the changes in the Volga River. Since 2016, it has been financially supported by the Russian Geographical Society.
