Floral tribute made in university courtyard to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War
The Glory Alley in the backyard of KFU鈥檚 Main Building was visited by dozens of people today.
Apart from Rector Ilshat Gafurov and other KFU employees, guests from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan also joined.
Dr. Gafurov noted, 鈥淲e came here to honor the memory of those people who brought us this victory. All citizens rose as one during those years. This history unites us to this day, and we must do everything for this tragedy to not be repeated.鈥�
The ceremony ended with a minute of silence.
The Glory Alley was opened in 2015 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The names of students and employees who left for the front lines are engraved on marble plaques. The composition also features a bust of Musa Jalil, a war hero who was executed for planning a prisoner of war uprising.
