KFU鈥檚 Lobachevsky Lyceum students won the Artificial Intelligence International Junior Contest

The contest, co-organized by Sber and Artificial Intelligence Alliance, aims at attracting young people to the AI sphere.

The KFU team comprised 11th-grade student Andrey Lemanov and 10th-grade students Kirill Prygunov and Fayaz Davleev. They were coached by Extracurricular Course Teacher Ruslan Damindarov.

鈥淥ur preparatory training lasted for six months,鈥 says Damindarov. 鈥淲e had regular online and offline meetings. It鈥檚 worth noting that the guys have been partaking in various competitions together for three years now. They all have their specific strengths, and they assist each other in acquiring more skills.鈥

The three winners presented their project of a neural network capable of detecting lung damage in CT scans. The data can be analyzed and synchronized through a tailored mobile app – which the students also created.

鈥淲e stumbled upon some difficulties in assigning tasks to each of the participants, and the final stage of the contest really didn鈥檛 play to our strengths at all. However, we weren鈥檛 discouraged and were able to redistribute our assignments,鈥 notes Andrey Lemanov.
