Competition of student science clubs wraps up at Cairo Branch

The final round of the Science Day student competition was held at KFU’s newest branch.
Over 40 participants were selected from 200 applicants, and they demonstrated their achievements in various fields of fundamental and practical medicine to the jury.
Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Yekaterina Turilova, along with the administrators and faculty of the Cairo Branch, participated in the competition’s opening ceremony.
In her welcoming speech, the Vice-Rector emphasized, “The development of student research is an important component in the development of experts in any field, especially in such a dynamically developing field as medicine. Engaging students in research from their freshmanhood helps prepare true professionals with a deep understanding of all the intricacies of medicine. Mentors play a special role in this process, as only under their sensitive guidance is it possible to successfully master the necessary professional skills.”
The competition consisted of two sections: practical medicine and student research. In practical medicine, students demonstrated their skills in general care, first aid, and the basics of surgery. Dentistry students demonstrated their skills in professional oral hygiene, dental disease prevention, and caries treatment. Future pharmacists competed in the development and production of simple dosage forms, their marketing, and the fundamentals of the pharmaceutical business.
The student research section featured poster presentations. It’s worth noting the wide range of research interests of our young scientists: from epidemiology, statistical research, and sociological surveys to 3D modeling and healthcare organization.
During the competition, the jury, chaired by Professor Shereen Abdelmalik, head of the Student Scientific Society, selected the best students in all categories.
Following the event, an award ceremony was held for the best students, attended by Dr Turilova, the jury members, and the branch management. Dr Abdelmalik expressed her gratitude to all participants and guests, “This is our first experience of this kind. We all eagerly awaited this day and are grateful to our guests and participants. The students, students, and their mentors have done a tremendous job of properly representing our many years of work and the achievements of the branch’s students. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are sincerely happy for their success. I would especially like to thank our faculty, who have ensured that students enjoy science. We believe that Student Science Days should be held annually and become part of the great traditions of the Cairo Branch.”
