KFU’s Creative Technology Park unveiled as part of Center for Creative Crafts in Kazan

The unique venue opened its doors on 29 April.
The Center is located in TSUM, Kazan’s historical mall built during the Soviet period as the first of its kind in the city.
The entire building is now functioning as a space of creative crafts and exhibitions. Among other tenants, KFU’s Creative Technology Park, curated by the Institute of Design and Spatial Arts, is now working here.
The CTP, totaling 800 sqm inside the building, was visited by Rector Lenar Safin. He joined the opening ceremony with participation from Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The delegation visited several booths: Islam Art, an Arabic calligraphy shop; Alpar, a shop of jewelry, accessories, and musical instruments; Magic Threads, a carpet shop; and others. The Rais toured other booths, including decorative sewing, cloth dyeing, and leather works.
KFU’s Creative Technology Park is set to start full-scale work in a month. Among its priorities are R&D and construction in interior desing, textiles, and printing.
The facility is going to serve as a classroom for KFU’s Kids’ Arts School and continuing education programs in animation, graphical design, interior design, parameter design, etc.
Partner universities in China have already shown interest in the format, offering to launch network programs in industrial design and communicative design.
