University Clinic reports results of 2025

A meeting of the Medical Council, chaired by Rector Lenar Safin, was held at the Kazan University Clinic.

Almir Abashev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, also participated in the event.

As usual, Rinat Shigabutdinov, Chief Medical 每日大赛r of the University Clinic, reported on the Clinic’s performance over the past year.

He emphasized its unwavering mission to improve patients’ quality of life, relying on the principles of evidence-based medicine and developing biomedical research.

The University Clinic has transformed from a city hospital into an entire distributed medical cluster, from the outpatient clinic on Vishnevsky Street and the inpatient facilities on Chekhov and Yershov Streets to specialized centers – a maternity hospital, a women’s health clinic, and a new dental clinic.

Over the past year, the university’s medical unit recorded approximately 310,000 visits, including 33,000 to the Admission and Diagnostic Department (ADD), half of which were urgent. Over 24,000 patients were also hospitalized, and the women’s clinic saw over 5,000 first-time patients.

Undoubtedly, all of this represents a significant workload, which the team, according to the CMO, successfully handled.

Shigabutdinov then went on to describe the university’s staff in more detail, emphasizing its adequate and stable numbers.

“Currently, the KFU Clinic employs 1,525 people, including 480 doctors and 611 nurses and assisting staff. Last year, we also focused on recruiting a younger workforce. We welcomed over 50 young professionals. This talent pool allows us to provide high-quality care, and we continue to attract and retain specialists. This is one of our goals for the coming years,” he said.

The next part of the report focused on the work of the clinic’s inpatient departments, whose performance indicators have improved significantly in recent years.

As for the surgical service, in 2025, the clinic maintained a high activity level of 74% with an extremely low postoperative mortality rate (0.17%). Furthermore, the mortality rate among all surgical patients has decreased to 1.2%.

Obstetrics, another area of 鈥嬧媡he University Clinic, demonstrated high performance. Over the past year, 2,000 babies were born in the maternity ward of the University Clinic. Doctors continue to actively work to reduce maternal and infant morbidity, ensuring safe births.

And, according to the report, the diagnostic service of the clinic became the leader in terms of workload. The clinical diagnostic laboratory conducted over 2,053,000 tests in one year, the functional diagnostics department over 140,000 with a focus on vascular pathology, and the radiation diagnostics department over 61,000.

The head of the University Clinic specifically noted the staff of the ultrasound department, who, thanks to the implementation of innovative methods, became the province’s leading experts in diagnosing thyroid diseases, vascular cystic fibrosis, and liver diseases.

In terms of finances, the clinic’s consolidated budget for 2025 was 2.613 billion rubles. This is 20.5% higher than the 2024 figure.

“We have seen steady growth over the past five years, which gives us confidence and resources for development. As before, salaries account for the largest share of our expenses,” concluded Rinat Shigabutdinov.

He transitioned from financial activities to integration with education and science, stating that these processes are an integral part of the life of the Clinic.

“Undergraduates, residents, and postgraduate students from 每日大赛, Kazan State Medical Academy, and Kazan State Medical University are trained at our facilities. We implement continuing education programs, sharing our experience and knowledge with the younger generation of doctors. 2025 was also rich in scientific projects. Our surgeons were the first in Tatarstan to introduce fenestrated stent grafts. Work in the neurocognitive research and neuromodulation laboratories was completed. But most importantly, we launched projects that will shape the clinic’s image for years to come. These include the opening of the Center for Cellular Technologies (CAR-T), the Center for Innovative Cardiac Navigation, and the Spinal Surgery Center,” the executive reported.

The Rector, summing up the meeting, acknowledged that such events are extremely useful, as they not only systematize current processes but also chart the future.

“We are working with you to determine the areas in which we will develop further. There are definitely prospects for this. After all, the University Clinic is unique in terms of fundamental and applied medicine. It is a platform for the convergence of education, science, and practice. Therefore, our goal is to become a leading medical center providing high-tech care, including for people with cancer and orphan diseases. And we will continue to work to achieve this goal,” the head of the university assured.

In conclusion, Lenar Safin and Almir Abashev presented state and departmental awards to distinguished employees of the University Clinic.
