Rector Ilshat Gafurov met with Associated Secretary-General of the Permanent International Committee of Linguists Camiel Hamans
The talks were held on November 15.
The meeting was also joined by Director of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication Radif Zamaletdinov, Deputy Director of the said institute Elsa Gafiyatova, and Associate Professor Igor Guryanov.
The sides discussed preparation for the upcoming International Congress of Linguists set to take place at KFU from June 25 to July 2, 2023.
As Camiel Hamans noted, the choice of the venue was spurred by a high-quality application package and by KFU鈥檚 lasting reputation as a center of linguistics.
As per the Permanent Committee鈥檚 suggestions, one of the Panels of ICL鈥�23 will be dedicated to the Kazanian school of linguistics.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov will serve as Honorary President of the Congress, and Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Director of the Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kibrik will co-lead as Congress Presidents.
