Rector meets with Consul General of India in Kazan
Rector Lenar Safin and Consul General Jeysundhar discussed promising areas of cooperation in science and education, as well as study conditions and the support measures the university provides for international students.
During the meeting, the Rector noted that holding the 16th BRICS Summit, a meeting of BRICS heads of state, in Kazan in 2024 gave momentum to the development of cooperation between India and the Republic of Tatarstan.
He also emphasized that the university is ready to invite scholars from India to engage in scientific partnerships, including participation in major research projects in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, oil and gas technologies, new materials and chemistry, and IT technologies.
Overall, 150 Indian nationals are currently studying at KFU in programs such as General Medicine, Management, and Software Engineering.
Under official agreements, the university cooperates with 10 Indian universities, including the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Woxsen University, and Partap College of Education.
Above all, according to the Rector, KFU aims to expand two-way student mobility with partner universities in India, including Indian students鈥� participation in the annual Summer University hosted by KFU and the development of language internships.
Notably, Asian studies and Indology have been among Kazan University鈥檚 priority areas since its founding. For more than 10 years, KFU has operated its Center for Indian Studies, opened with support from the Embassy of India in the Russian Federation. The Center鈥檚 activities are supported by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
