Chinese as a foreign language program discussed with Hunan Normal University




The HNU delegation on 28 May included Deputy Head of the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation Tang Cunzhong, Assistant Dean of PhD Programs Wu Jiye, Director of Joint Master Program in Chinese as a Foreign Language Chen Hui, and Head of International Admissions Hu Runli.
KFU was represented by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev, Deputy Director for International Affairs of the Institute of International Relations Svetlana Takhtarova, Dean of the Higher School of Eastern Studies Elmira Khabibullina, Chair of the Department of Chinese and Asia-Pacific Studies Svetlana Glushkova, and others.
Welcoming the guests, Vice-Rector Alishev said that as of May 2025, the number of Chinese citizens at the university for the 2024/2025 academic year is 2,084 people, of whom 141 people are scholarship students.
Tang Cunzhong expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the representatives and support.
鈥淜azan University has a very rich history. The university has graduated a huge number of talented specialists,鈥 he noted.
Tang Cunzhong said that at the moment 40,000 students are studying at HNU, and1,000 of them are foreign students. It has 20 institutes and about 3,000 teachers.
An agreement between KFU and HNU has been signed on joint work on the further development of the Confucius Institute (2021-2026). The activities of this institute include the annual international conference Russia-China: History and Culture and are based at the Institute of International Relations. Six students of the IIR received a grant for studies at HNU in the fall semester of 2024/2025.
A tripartite agreement to jointly train master’s students in Chinese as a foreign language is currently under discussion.
鈥淚 am confident that we will be able to implement our plans and students will be able to study in this program,鈥 summarized Mr Tang.
