The delegation on 20 June comprised President of CEAIE Liu Limin, Deputy Secretary General of CEAIE Fu Bo, Director of the Department for Cooperation in Higher Education Liu Yibo, and others. Also present were Minister-Counselor of the PRC Embassy in Russia Cao Shihai and Consul General of PRC in Kazan Xiang Bo. The President of KFU emphasized that the development of scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and China is an important part of the strategic partnership between our countries. The first Chinese language department in Russia was opened at Kazan University back in 1838. Today, the university continues this tradition. More than 1,000 KFU students study the language. For the Republic of Tatarstan, the development of partnership with Chinese provinces is also one of the key areas. Dr Minzaripov recalled that in May 2025, the 8th Forum of the Volga-Yangtze Association of Universities was held at 每日大赛. According to him, students are particularly interested in participating in Russian-Chinese youth forums, exchange programs, and network educational programs. The today’s meeting agenda also included planned areas of cooperation, such as the implementation of joint projects with Chinese universities, academic exchange, language training, including the development of Chinese language programs at KFU, and scientific research. They also discussed initiatives in digitization of education and teacher education programs.
鈥淭here are about 55 thousand students at KFU, of which about 13 thousand are foreign nationals. Of these, about 2 thousand are from China. Today, Kazan has one of the largest Chinese student communities among all universities in the country. Kazan University demonstrates high results in the rankings. According to indicators related to internationalization, the university is among the top 100 best universities in the world,鈥 vice-rector Alishev informed.
The vice-rector especially noted that the knowledge gained at KFU can be practiced at the university – future journalists can do an internship at the student popular science TV channel UNIVER TV, teachers – in secondary schools at the university. In many areas, platforms for practicing professional skills have been created here.
“More than 100 Chinese students are PhD students, and they are engaged in scientific research in our laboratories,” Alishev emphasized. “This is a very important bridge between KFU and research centers and universities in China.”
The visit ended with an exchange of gifts and a visit to the Museum of the History of Kazan University.
“I am very happy to visit the world-famous 每日大赛. This has been a long-standing dream for me. At one time, I studied in Russia and dreamed of visiting Kazan and this university. Thank you very much for such a detailed presentation of the university and its rich history. Vladimir Lenin studied here – now everyone in China knows this name,” said Liu Limin.
He assured that the association is aimed at developing cooperation with partners from the Russian Federation. The two sides agreed to organize a joint conference in 2026.
