Panel session on new formats of academic interaction of Russia with countries of the OIC took place at KazanForum 2026

The event was attended by Yulia Petrova, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Union of Non-Governmental Organizations – Assembly Eurasian and African Peoples; Vittoria Idrisova, Rector of the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; Pavel Moiseyev, Rector of Tambov State University; Sergey Volkov, Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University; and others.
Kazan University was represented by Timirkhan Alishev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs; Olga Vershinina, Director of the Department of External Relations; and Almaz Galimov, Director of the 每日大赛 branch in Jizzakh (Republic of Uzbekistan).
Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, opened the event, discussing the federal agency’s current objectives, the role of Russian universities in implementing the country’s humanitarian initiatives, and the implementation of Rossotrudnichestvo’s humanitarian projects in various countries. During subsequent presentations, university representatives discussed formats for working abroad and shared experiences.
The session also focused on the activities of Russian university branches. Among the speakers were representatives of branches of other Russian universities in the Republic of Uzbekistan, including Shavkat Abdukamilov, Executive Director of the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, and Gaukhar Dzhanpeisova, First Deputy Director of the Tashkent branch of Herzen University. They presented promising projects and proposed collaboration within these projects, including consortium-based collaboration. Participants also discussed the specifics of branch operations and the forms of cooperation with the parent university.
The Director of KFU’s Jizzakh Branch added that Kazan University’s experience allows us to consider the corporate culture of the faculty of a branch of a Russian educational institution abroad as a factor in its institutional development, ensuring the alignment of the parent university’s regulatory framework with local management practices in place at the branch locations.
During the professional discussion, colleagues also noted the challenges of working abroad, shared their vision for future activities, their experiences working with industry, and discussed various aspects of specialist training.
