Ongoing cooperation discussed with Union Cuba-Petr贸leo
Head of Training and Development聽Mario Miranda M谩rquez聽and HR Director聽Tania聽P茅rez Delgado聽visited on 3 and 4 October.
Since 2018, the Institute has been cooperating with Cuba鈥檚 national oil company, having graduated 25 master鈥檚 degree students and 267 short-term training students.
In June 2023, Minister of Higher Education of Cuba聽Walter Baluja Garcia聽toured KFU and listened to the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies鈥� proposals for further collaboration.
Director of the Institute鈥檚 Center for Advanced Training (CdoGEO) Ildus Chukmarov said, 鈥淒uring the meeting, we agreed to offer advanced training courses in non-seismic exploration of hydrocarbons in Kazan and courses in heavy oil production and operation management in the petroleum industry in Cuba.鈥�
During this last meeting, the guests talked with Dr Chukmarov and Institute Director, Vice-Rector for Earth Sciences Danis Nurgaliev.
The Vice-Rector commented, 鈥淐uba has large oil reserves, the national oil and gas company CUPET is engaged in oil production, including at the Boca de Jaruco field. We cooperate with this company in the technological and educational spheres. Since the main reserves of Cuba are highly viscous oil, KFU scientists have developed special catalysts to enhance oil recovery. Today during the conversation we touched upon new forms of additional professional education, which will help the company to train high-class specialists without production losses. We also discussed the possibility of joint projects between Cuba, Venezuela and Russia.鈥�
Mr M谩rquez opined, 鈥淲e are glad to see our cooperation with KFU growing. The meetings were productive, and we saw a new seismic interpretation center sponsored by Tagras Holding. We also visited a spacious new facility soon to become a laboratory of petrophysics and reservoir physics sponsored by Rosneft. We see that the Institute continues developing and teaching high-quality professionals.鈥�
