Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov tours KFU’s Cairo Branch

He was accompanied by Rector Lenar Safin on a working visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The meeting was also attended by Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdulaziz Kanswa and Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem.

The discussion focused on issues related to the development of higher education and, in general, effective cooperation between the two countries.

The guests then learned about the university’s educational process, toured its classrooms and main laboratories, and met with students and faculty members.

Rustam Minnikhanov praised the activities of the branch, noting that the university sets a true example of how work in this area should be organized.

Waleed Deabes, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Modern Group, emphasized that the opening of the KFU branch reflects the academic partnership between Russia and Egypt. He also proposed jointly supporting scientific research and projects that could benefit both countries.

In this regard, Rector Safin recalled the participation of the branch’s students in the upcoming international educational project, Summer University 2026, designed to strengthen cultural ties between the countries. Furthermore, the rector invited young faculty from Egypt to complete an internship in Kazan.

It was also announced that construction of a separate KFU campus in Cairo will be completed by the end of this year.

The Kazan University branch in Egypt was established with the support of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and in partnership with Modern Group, a company founded in 1990 to implement educational projects.

Currently, the branch has over 2,000 students from Egypt, Syria, Sudan, and Jordan. The faculty comprises 214 individuals. The majors taught here are General Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, but two more programs are planned for the near future – Artificial Intelligence and Physical Therapy.
