University visited by Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Peng Qinghua
As of the 2025/2026 academic year, 1,792 Chinese citizens are studying at the university, 102 of whom are recipients of the Russian government scholarship.
The university is actively developing partnerships with leading Chinese universities. Key areas of cooperation include: joint educational programs; academic exchanges of students and faculty; joint research; language courses; and the creation of joint research centers.
“We are actively developing our partnership with the People’s Republic of China. We have approximately 2,000 Chinese students studying with us, and we are seeing an increase in the number of PhD students. KFU currently has approximately 75 partners in China,” commented Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev. The meeting’s program included a visit to the History Museum, where guests learned about the university’s past, learned about its achievements in education and research, and explored contemporary projects and thematic installations.
“We held our traditional program for our esteemed guests. They were particularly interested in the professor’s uniform and its appearance. We are currently hosting an exhibition related to the ethnographic museum’s shoe collection featuring items of Chinese footwear,” noted Andrey Afanasyev, Curator of the Lobachevsky Museum.
Kazan University continues to strengthen its position as a leading center of Russian-Chinese educational cooperation, opening up new prospects for the development of bilateral relations in education and science.
